The client's need was to create a customized cross-platform mobile application to be used as a digital catalog, with the additional function of ordering samples, intended for both sales agents and end customers.
The approach was to apply some processes from the UX methodology to define how users would interact with the application. After an initial phase of analyzing the content on their website, we structured the information architecture to define the organization of content within the new application. This activity was preparatory for studying user flows and identifying design solutions, with the goal of developing a functional interface based on user needs.
The next phase was to draft these flows in the form of Wireframe boards to visualize the application's design and map the elements within the pages, in order to identify potential usability issues. Additionally, it's a useful tool for developers to see how the application works and understand what resources they need to build it.
To ensure a smooth and high-performing user experience across all platforms, we chose Flutter, a cutting-edge open-source framework for mobile app development. Flutter allows writing a single source code, compiled natively for iOS and Android mobile devices as well as for web. The client instead handled populating the database, which was queried by GraphQL, a powerful query language that enables efficient management of catalog data.
For this project we collaborated with Dogtrot, a design and communication studio that has been managing all communication and coordinating Sharabati's projects for 3 years. Dogtrot wanted us in the project both as technology partners and for the UX design of the application. Dogtrot handled the art direction of the application's visual identity, as well as the photo shoot for Sharabati's latest collection, while we designed the user flows and applied the graphic style to the boards, thus defining all the visual elements with which the user interacts during product use.
