About the client

iVision Tech is a company from Friuli specialized in the design and production of eyewear, representing excellence in the Italian manufacturing landscape. With a diversified offering for B2B and B2C clients, the company stands out for quality, research, and innovation.

The context

Within iVision Tech, the Research & Development division plays a key role in exploring new technologies applied to eyewear, with a particular focus on social inclusivity.

It is precisely from this vision that iSee One was born, a project dedicated to improving the daily lives of blind and visually impaired people through cutting-edge technological solutions. iSee is an innovative smart glasses equipped with advanced sensors, designed to detect the spatial position of the wearer and surrounding objects.

Once the prototype was created, iVision Tech was looking for a technology partner capable of developing software dedicated to device configuration, completely accessible even to people with visual difficulties. Given the smart nature of the project, the implementation of native applications became necessary to ensure optimal performance and an intuitive user experience

Development process

The design of the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) was guided by intuitive and simplified operational flows, developed in close collaboration with iVision Tech. The goal was to create a smooth and obstacle-free interaction that would allow users to fully exploit the device's functionalities.

The implementation of haptic and audio feedback enriched the navigation experience, providing users with additional information and confirmation of their actions. These sensory elements contributed to creating a more complete and engaging interaction.

The design was optimized to adapt to screens of different sizes, ensuring visual and functional consistency across all devices.

The parallel development of native applications for iOS and Android allowed us to optimize development time and ensure functional and visual consistency between the two platforms. This approach made it possible to offer a uniform user experience, regardless of the operating system used.

However, this development presented two main challenges: keeping the device always updated and ensuring a stable and reliable connection between the glasses and the applications. To overcome these challenges, we worked extensively on implementing updates using Over-The-Air (OTA) technology, refining this process through the use of nRF Connect Device Manager.
